Best Intake

I was wondering what intakes are the best with a jrsc. I see alot of people use the AEM short ram. Has anyone used the J's racing intake with a jrsc? Also, any opinions on the new AEM V2 intake?

A 3 inch short ram intake seems to work the best.

I have a 3" Injen SRI with attached cold air extension, works great to get cooler air to blower.

I think they both have some advantages and drawbacks. I think the cold air has an advantage in stop and go traffic. Your underhood temps are building up and I believe on short low to midrange driving it probably produces some more horses in these conditions.

On the otherhand, the short should flow better, and probably produces a higher top end when the air is really moving and engine bay temps aren't really a problem.

But that's just my theory.

I've used the short ram for a year or so, but am currently using a homemade cold air.

The best version might be a short intake "straight" from the throttle body forward going directly through the hood into the air I would think. There's a problem with the air bouncing over a scoop if it's not located in a good spot though. And rain, and so forth.

Is the AEM short ram 3 inches?

Sport Compact Car did a test of short rams and ocold air intakes awhile back, sorry I don't remember what month. I think they found the AEM cold air intake provded the largest hp gain of all the intakes they tested. It was more restrictive than a short ram they tested, but the lower air temp. made more diference.

Try the best of both. I run the Comptech ice box with a short intake. Cool air, short intake, no hydro lock worries and just enough JRSC noise when I wind it up .

With the intake temp issues associated with the jrsc, why would anyone run a metal tube which will be affected by heat soak.

I gladly tossed my other filter in the for sale forum once I recieved the Iceman. Btw, I've tried the AEM cold air, ractive short ram with K&N filter, and the custom icebox setup on both an NA b16 civic, and my jrsc GSR.

That was also on N/A cars. Adding forced induction such as an SC changes the ball game considerably. SC's like 3" intakes, whether SRI or CAI, but the AEM is not even close to 3"

Thanks for all the replies. The only 3" intake ive found so far is the DC Sports one. Anyone know of any others?
